QNM-I Announces Graduate Student Fellowships
December 4, 2025

Applications are now open for the Quantum New Mexico Institute (QNM-I) Graduate Student Fellowships (GSF)—a distinguished opportunity for outstanding graduate students to launch their research careers at the leading edge of quantum science and engineering. These fellowships provide robust support for incoming PhD students and connect them with QNM-I Fellows whose expertise aligns with their interests, fostering deep engagement in cutting-edge quantum research from the start of their graduate studies.
The Quantum New Mexico Institute (QNM-I) is a newly established institute of the University of New Mexico, in partnership with Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories, on the broad interdisciplinary field of Quantum Information Science & Engineering (QISE). The QNM-I builds on UNM’s long history in QISE, including at the Center for Quantum Information and Control (CQuIC). QNM-I GSFs are awarded to exceptional candidates across disciplines, including Physics, Chemistry, and Electrical & Computer Engineering.
The term of the appointment is two years, followed by regular research assistantships. Requirements for continued eligibility include good academic standing and satisfactory performance of research.
Stipends begin at $37,000/year, plus tuition, heath care, and benefits.
To be considered for a QNM-I GSF and applicant must be admitted to a PhD program in one of the following departments, and follow the application procedure linked below:
