CQuIC External Advisory Board Meeting August 23-24, 2018

The CQuIC External Advisory Board (EAB) convened for its second meeting in Albuquerque on August 23rd and 24th, 2018. During the day and a half of meetings, Steven Girvin of Yale University, Christiane Koch of the University of Kassel, and David Wineland, of the University of Oregon, learned about current happenings at CQuIC offer advisement on CQuIC programs and research in quantum information science. CQuIC Faculty, postdocs and graduate students presented talks describing their current research and CQuIC graduate students displayed scientific posters at a poster session. CQuIC welcomed the participation of Elizabeth Crosson, its newest faculty member as well as graduate students, Nathan Lysne and Daniel Hemmer from the University of Arizona, CQuIC’s partner institution. The EAB took part in a roundtable discussion led by CQuIC Director, Ivan Deutsch that brought together UNM leadership from multiple disciplines to garner interest in preparing for a future of quantum information science at UNM that includes a multidisciplinary approach.
